While watching

September 2, 2012 § 2 Comments

I just got back to Stockholm after the weekend at my parents up north. I discovered that my improved playlist “the best of Super Junior” lasts more then the train ride (two and a half hours) and that while picking mushrooms out in the wilderness I randomly think a lot about Key and also, surprise surprise about Hoya…

Now I’m back home, Sunday evening, the kitchen table filled with mushrooms (picture) to clean. While doing so I’m going to watch another episode of Reply 1997. ♥

1997, I’m not over you

Along with the recently watched and amazing episodes of Answer Me, 1997, I’m momentarily drowned in nostalgia over my own years in high school, which just happens to be almost the exact same ones as for the characters in the drama, I’m just a little bit younger. I remember most of all the feelings. Falling in love, the first real girlfriend, disappointments and also, kissing a guy for the first time…

But even though I was good at falling in love, I kind of sucked at being in relationships and most of them ended abruptly and not so nice. Thinking back at them now many of them still hurt a little bit and perhaps, just perhaps, I’m not quite over the relationships of those years yet. Even if I now almost forgot the people who were the objects of interest.

Stockholm

My co-writer Mis of this blog sent me the picture of Key dressed in a t-shirt that says Cheap Monday Stockholm

Soon Mis will be over here at my apartment and we will get together for the first time in over a month. I’m making kimchi fried rice and serving Taittinger.

So happy!

GLAM – Party(XXO)

August 1, 2012 § Leave a comment

It’s Stockholm Pride Week, the first one I’m actually trying to participate in for real. And this awesomely sexually ambivalent song is my soundtrack:

(subtitled version here)

I can’t really decide on whether I think it’s actually supposed to be about same-sex attraction or if it just comes across like that when it’s translated, though I with my limited Korean also make out the original Korean lyrics to be quite gay. Or is it just my corrupt mind? I personally believe that there are supposed to be hints at lesbianism in the lyrics, and that they are put there mostly as a promotional stunt, something to make the song a hot topic. One part of me finds it annoying when love between girls is hinted at for commercial purposes, considering the male gaze, lesbian love for straight men etc, but another part of me remembers how many young girls who found the fabricated love between the girls of Tatu to be a great inspiration in their teenage coming out process.

No matter what, the song is really catchy, and I’ll interpret the lyrics to my benefit. You know how it is with art – it’s the viewer’s perception that’s important.

Xia Junsu interview

July 24, 2012 § 1 Comment

I just finished reading this interview with Xia(h) Junsu and honestly, everybody who has ever been interested in a) the idolverse, b) the concept of “image” or c) questioning gender should read it. Which hopefully means everybody who has ever visited this blog. This man may have an image quite far from the brooding type, but he obviously has a lot going on in his head, and I am so happy that he is able to express it better these days. Read it!

Any other Saturday

This Saturday, I’m tired, all alone and probably a bit hungover, don’t have to do anything. Tomorrow on the 1st of July is Leeteuks birthday and the day after I turn 30. The next Super Junior album is only a couple of hours away and that is the focus of my mind at the moment.

I should be practising my dance cover of Get Your Swag On for my friends danceproject, but find myself doing almost everything else instead. I took some random photos at home in my bedroom earlier, mostly of my K-pop cds. Funny what strange things you get yourself into, and what records you decide to buy. I love it all though.

and to go with it the track of the day:

Oh, and you know that you can find us on facebook, if you want closer interaction with us and to get more k-pop updates from our perspective.

A year ago I was i Seoul. I got to do must of what you should be doing while there. We ate cake at the lovers stream, went shopping in Myeongdong, climbed the Namsan Tower Hill, went to music shows, visited exhibitions, museums and palaces and got drunk in Sinchon. I also went on a roller coaster ride for the first time in ages.

Seoul was magic and responded well with my dreams, of K-pop and others. All of this would never have happend if it wasn’t for my friends Johanna and Elin, who brought me in to K-pop and later moved to Seoul for me to visit. A shout out to Tina, Jonas, Rerre and Emma who also were there with me for parts of the trip! I miss it badly. Hopefully I will get to go back soon.

Thank you ever so much for this!!!

And so they were ten – again

What I’m going through at the moment, waiting for the next Super Junior album, Kangin back in the picture and the concept photos being this amazing, is hard to describe. These last couple of years with this group, through better and worse, with Kibum, Hangeng and Kanging, waiting for albums and concept photos and finally traveling to Paris to see them live, it’s all been worth it.

Kangin was never my favourite member the sore looser and macho guy he is. And in the end of 2009 and in the beginning of 2010 he was more of disturbance then of joy to us all. He felt tired and angry and perhaps all that happend back then was for the best in the end. But as an ELF I of course support the idea of 13 members and of 15 aswell, so I’m happy to see him back. Also very happy to see that his picture fits well in with the others.

And as the years passes on the circulation of Super Juniors original members might very well work. There is always someone you want to come back from the military to fill a gap.

As an extra plus this time, the release is one day prior to my 30th birthday. The best of presents.

The Lyrics

June 26, 2012 § Leave a comment

Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, whoa

Whenever I’m dressed cool
My parents put up a fight
(Uh huh, uh huh)
And if I’m hot shot
Mom will cut my hair at night
(Uh huh, uh huh)

And in the morning
I’m short of my identity
(Uh huh, uh huh)
I scream Mom and Dad
Why can’t I be who I wanna be?
(Uh huh, uh huh)
To be

I just wanna be myself
And I want you to love me for who I am
I just wanna be myself
And I want you to know, I am my hair

I’ve had enough, this is my prayer
That I’ll die livin’ just as free as my hair
I’ve had enough, this is my prayer
That I’ll die livin’ just as free as my hair
I’ve had enough, I’m not a freak
I just keep fightin’ to stay cool on the streets
I’ve had enough, enough, enough
And this is my prayer, I swear
I’m as free as my hair
I’m a free as my hair
I am my hair
I am my hair

Free as my hair, hair, hair
Hair, hair, ha-ha-ha-hair
Hair, hair, hair
Hair, hair, ha-ha-ha-hair

Is there something he wants to tell us?
