I’m currently taking three courses at my university:
One of them is the Japanese language class I’m taking in preparation for going abroad in January. I have spent some time during the last weeks preparing for the kanji test I have tomorrow. Among the kanji ideograms I have to write is the sign 年, toshi or nen, meaning “year”.
One of them is called Future Studies and Forecasts. I have spent most of the weekend trying to analyze future scenarios, the idea of futures, utopias etc. Today I finally got started on the paper we’ll be handing in next week.
One of them is called Theory of Science and Research Methods. I should probably get started on the final examination part of this, but I haven’t yet.
Today two videos that I have looked forward to were released. One is called 1000年、ずっとそばにいて・・・:
One is called Humanoids, but the lyrics are about the future:
What song will I get for when I start writing the final part for the methods course?
(Also, here I am writing on a blog called The Future is Idol!)
Honestly, I’m a little creeped out by these coincidences.

There is not really that much to say about To the Beautiful You. It’s colorful and pretty and cheesy and I watch it just for fun. As the episodes have gone by, the drama has become pretty different from the Japanese versions, which is nice for me who’s pretty familiar with those. Choi Min Ho is hot when he’s in pain but his childish smile turns me off. Sulli is probably more awesome than the role lets her show (Biased? Who, me?) because let’s face it, the character Goo Jae Hee is pretty annoying. But she’s not so annoying I can’t like her. And yesterday when I went through some old pictures, I realized one of the reasons for that:
I really wish I had found a picture where I was dressed in my schoolboy outfit, including white shirt and tie. But even without the school uniform, I guess it’s not completely impossible to see some reasons for identification with Goo Jae Hee…

That pretty much sums up my feelings for this drama so far. But honestly, I’m not complaining. This is a drama to watch for the lulz, for ridiculous amounts of ridiculously handsome young men, for cheesy CF-styled camera shooting, for the unfolding of a storyline one already knows, and for Sulli in drag. I knew this beforehand, and wasn’t expecting much more – and so far, I haven’t gotten much more, either. The things that have surprised me up til now are the following (no spoilers, really):
- The dorm captain for dorm 2 is really hot in a sporty, normal, guy-handsome way, and I like it, with my liking it being the surprise of this.
- The interiors of the school are fantastically, hilariously horrible! Here just as in the jdrama version. I love ugly and super-expensive interiors in these kinds of over-the-top dramas.
- EXO-K performs at the school party. This made me laugh out loud both because, damn, SME aren’t exactly subtle about how much they own this show, and because of a boy-band performing at an all-boys school – fuck yeah, shojo dreams! It’s pretty awesome how shamelessly the show is aiming at a teenage girl audience.
I will probably continue to watch this show, but don’t expect any deep analyses of it.

When I came home last night, I had decided to refrain from turning on my computer and just check my phone before going to bed. However, when I did so, I found that Elin over at Dancing on Our Own had sent a link to this tumblr post, asking Lars and me if we knew anything more about the photo.
Yes. That is Kim Heechul of Super Junior, a band under SM Entertainment, and Kim “Hero” Jaejoong of JYJ, currently in conflict with said company.
Naturally, I had to turn on the computer to go online and do some investigation work, and before long, I found this post saying it’s real and recent, taken sometime during the last year. I almost started crying.
I was already beyond thrilled when Heechul and Jaejoong started following each other on Twitter in April, and I wondered a lot about what was going on, why they could do this, how it had happened. I imagined them bumping into each other at some bar, slightly drunk, and just laughing at it all and deciding to follow each other on Twitter, starting right there on the spot. I have no idea if this is actually what happened, but what is Fandom if not daydreams and fantasies? In any case it reminded me of why Heechul is my original (though not at the moment most prominent) bias: The prettiness might have drawn me in, but what made me stay was his originality and courage beyond words, the personality that always keeps me guessing. Yes, the courage. How he continued to support Hangeng even after he left SME, and now appearently Jaejoong, even though Heechul himself has stayed in the company and even renewed his contract not that long ago. (And considering the well-known close friendship between Heechul and Yunho of DBSK, I can’t even begin to think about how this may affect all the YunJae shippers out there…)
I think what these kinds of acts and pictures do to me is that they give me hope that the idols actually are more than what they are made into, and that they can to a certain extent escape the hands of their companies. And if someone is to go against his company, it’s Kim Heechul.
I wonder if I’ll ever get wtf is going on in the Idol World. I don’t think so. But maybe some day it will become at least a little clearer to us at least what happened just now. Until then: Heechul and Jaejoong, stay strong!

I just finished reading this interview with Xia(h) Junsu and honestly, everybody who has ever been interested in a) the idolverse, b) the concept of “image” or c) questioning gender should read it. Which hopefully means everybody who has ever visited this blog. This man may have an image quite far from the brooding type, but he obviously has a lot going on in his head, and I am so happy that he is able to express it better these days. Read it!

Right now we are both at Lars’ apartment, drinking wine and listening to Electric Shock. And we are both relieved and happy that we like it! But we also just had the following conversation:
Tina: “It’s a pretty annoying song.”
Tina: “But I like that.”
Lars: “Yeah, me too.”
Can’t wait to see the video!

Nothing new and ground-breaking. But oh so beautiful and posted because of this. SME make the kpop dreams come true… Wether I like it or not. Also, with all members of EXO M and K displayed at the same time they resemble Super Junior in numbers. And everyone looks like Taemin.

The Kpop Christmas-craze is never really doing it for me.
The best groups turns into the worst (DBSK) and you might start to hate your favourite idols for a short little while. However, sometimes someone do actually make it beyond the total embarrassment and delivers something ok.
This clip below is not of an entire song, it starts when Key of SHINee is about to sing his part in Last Christmas from the SMTown Winter album. He sounds so incredibly good and this, my friends is what has kept me warm this Sunday before christmas. Stockholm is trying to adjust into the holiday mood and the rain is mixed with heavy snow. Two days left for us with work and studies. Then rest. Our Kpop Christmas will continue through out the week, we will try to get a grip on this year of 2011, and we will be doing it to the sound of Key doing it for us all.
“A crowded room, friends with tired eyes. I’m hiding from you, And your soul of ice. My god I thought you were someone to rely on. Me? I guess I was a shoulder to cry on.”

After yesterdays agony and updates concerning the Bad Girl MV I was glad to find out that SNSD will be releasing their third album before the end of September. Thank you and hopefully they will raise the standards the normal levels again. It better be damn good this time. Most importantly, I’m really turning out the worried fan that I perhaps never thought I would. First out this month was Super Junior and now SNSD. Will the worries ever end?
