I Got a Boy – the stupidest thing
January 7, 2013 § 6 Comments
If they perhaps would have cut the first 1:35 of the song or maybe some other part of it, and changed the lyrics for the rest or something, and got another video-director, then perhaps I would have been able to really enjoy this. Because the teaser pics were really kind of awesome. But I have to tell you this is not good enough. And out of all the terrible lyrics in the world of SNSD, and I’m telling you, I’ve put up with a lot of stuff from them concerning women and men, hatred agaisnt women. This is perhaps the stupidest? WHAT IS IT EVEN SUPPOSED TO MEAN?!!!
Am I’m having it especially hard this time because it’s impossible to interpret humor in to it? Because even though it’s too much it’s not even close to enough? They could have looked cool, fierce and sexy, but they don’t even make it to cute. And don’t get me wrong, I REALLY like the I Got a Boy-part…
Read the lyrics and then watch the MV below if interested. And this comes from someone who has Genie as his alarm-signal.
Ayo! GG! Yeah Yeah, shall we start?
Gosh! Look at her, look
What happened to her that she cut her hair? huh?
Gosh! Again look at her, look!
From head to toe, her style has changed
Why did she do that? I’m curious to death
why did she do that? Tell me
Ha ha! Let me introduce myself!
Here comes trouble! Follow after me!
Oh oh oh yeah oh, oh oh yeah oh
You really are something else!
Who is she? Ridiculous
Do you know you’re too self-assertive? She thinks I’m average
Yeah, I guess she really liked him!
No way! No way!
She became so pretty and sexy, it’s because of him, right?
I almost asked her what her new makeup was
Truthfully, I’ve seen it for the first time
The deep eyes, like a scarred beast
I was dizzy by just talking to him!
You really are something else! You really are something else!
Oh ohh eh oh
(Here’s come trouble, hey girl listen!)
Oh ohh eh oh
You really are something else! (something!)
Oh ohh eh oh (Hey!)
Oh ohh eh oh (Na na na na hey!)
You really are something else!
Ayo! Stop! Let me put it down another way.
I got a boy, a handsome one! I got a boy, a kind one!
I got a boy handsome boy, who took all my heart
I got a boy, a handsome one! I got a boy, a kind one!
I got a boy awesome boy, I must have really fallen for him
Ah, my prince! When are you gonna come save me?
Will you lift me in your arms and fly, like a white dream?
I’m like, surprised, mental collapse!
He wants to see my face without makeup.
I really like him, would it be okay to show it to him?
Oh! Never! Right? Right?
Let’s keep what needs to be kept, right! right!
Don’t ever forget this until you take all of his heart!
Oh ohh eh oh, Oh ohh eh oh
Even if I stay up all night, it’s not enough, everything everything
Oh ohh eh oh, Oh ohh eh oh
Our biggest interest, everything everything
Listen to me, you all know him, right?
He’s a bit young but he’s full inside
Sometimes he is as reliable as an oppa but when he acts charming, he is so cute
Oh ohh eh oh, Oh ohh eh oh
You’re crazy, crazy
Oh ohh eh oh, Oh ohh eh oh
You’re crazy, crazy
I’m really angry, my boy doesn’t look at me as a girl
What should I do when I feel hopeless?
Should I make him feel jealous? I’m so upset! What do I do?
No way! No way!
Don’t stop! Let’s bring it back to 140
I got a boy, a handsome one! I got a boy, a kind one!
I got a boy handsome boy, who took all my heart
I got a boy, a handsome one! I got a boy, a kind one!
I got a boy awesome boy, I must have really fallen for him
Always next to me, it’s you, who’s on my side and listens to me
You oh oh oh oh~ you oh oh oh oh~
I’m happy as it is right now, cause everything will work
I got a boy, a handsome one! I got a boy, a kind one!
I got a boy handsome boy, who took all my heart
I got a boy, a handsome one! I got a boy, a kind one!
I got a boy awesome boy, I must have really fallen for him (x2)
I got a boy, a handsome one!
God I really wanted this to be awesome. 😦 Gonna love them still though

National Day
June 6, 2012 § Leave a comment
Today, June 6th is Swedens national day for celebrations of the country. This day for celebration is no old tradition and only just became a national holiday a couple of years ago. The date has a lot of old history in it, but people in general are a bit confused over what to do with the day. The idea of Swedish people going out in the streets waving with yellow and blue flags is a bit absurd for many Swedes, and I’m not going to take part in that kind of behaviour. There’s no need, I like Sweden, was born here and pay my taxes. That is enough of a celebration as it is.
Instead of flag waving I suggest watching something like the MV below. Not so serious and in a swedish perspective no nationalism at all. Have a great national day while doing so:

Corrections

My amazement over Seo In Guk and how he went from this(yes click here) and this ordinary guy to some kind of super model (and picture below) never really stops. How much could clinical corrections like that cost?
And the MV I never dared to post before due to embarrasment that is really great.
for Anna that also really like this track/MV.

Boybands and city lights

I just got home from my brother in laws birthday drinks in down town Stockholm. I had to leave early due to work in the morning, though most people have taken tomorrow off because of national holiday on May 1st. As I also live kind of down town and since Stockholm is small I decided to walk home in the warm pre-summer night. Stockholm City is a favourite to walk in at night and this evening was just as beautiful as ever. Slowly, watching the people out in the streets and at bars with Infinites Nothings Over playing in my ears. It actually kind of felt like that, like nothings over and something great is just about to start.
And I wonder what Key is doing at the moment.

Assimilating western culture
April 22, 2012 § Leave a comment
There’s a feeling of circular movement as I stand in the audience on the evening of Super Show 4 at Zenith de Paris.
Most of the people present are not in any way fluent in Korean, some of them might not know a single word of the language, but as fans of this Kpop group we have worked hard to incorporate the music and lyrics of the Korean pop songs performed this evening into our lives. We are all able to sing a long to the lyrics and we almost know what they are about. Fans might do this out of love and passion, but it still is hard work doing it. To grasp the meaning of lyrics, jokes and meaning of everything going on the stage takes time. It’s fandom on a hell of a serious level.
Many of the fans has also added gestures, sounds to display emotions and words to every day life that in some ways could be described as Korean. My own way of expressing feelings, I must confess, sound like something out of a K-drama from time to time. And when I for the first time watched Super Juniors version of Song Gol Maes A Chance Encounter I started learning about, and burried myself in older Korean rock and pop music.
Super Junior on the other hand has also worked hard as hell, with assimilating western culture into their performances. And of course, why not. Even if Kpop is on the march and spreads over the globe it is but nothing in comparison with the pop cultural grip the western world still holds on the planet. There for, it is perfectly natural that most of the performances in Super Show has an aura of west surrounding it.
At the beginning of the concert, as the MV intro is shown, Super Junior grow wings, shoots out of water and flies in over a city landscape. Is it Seoul, Tokyo, Shanghai or some other extremely cool and urban city in East Asia? No the city is of course New York, the symbol of western and all the worlds modern culture.
At one point all of the members comes in on stage dressed in costumes. Shindong as Britney Spears, Kyuhyun as Steve Jobs, Sungmin is Marilyn Monroe, Yesung Chuckie, Leeteuk Hulk Hogan, Donghae Charlie Chaplin, and so on. Parts of western pop culture used by Super Junior while performing all over Asia, and now also by doing so in Europe, stuffing it with a bit of new context . What is Charlie Chaplin really to the Super Junior members?
Every member also gets to do there own solo, and most of them are remakes of western global pop songs. Leeteuk, the leader of Super Junior plays a bit of Chopin but then moves on to a performance of SHE. Kyuhyun imitates Stevie Wonder and performs Isn’t she lovely. And I for one never really cared for Moves like Jagger before Ryeowook started doing this track as his solo performance at SS4.
The exchange of cultural understanding is almost laughable. How very strange and wonderful this world is.

More of Kpop in Paris
April 11, 2012 § 3 Comments
If you happen to be in Paris and also to be a fan of Kpop, there are atleast one adress you have to visit. Why? Because there are not that many other places in Europe to buy Kpop cds and merch in shop.
The nearest Metro stations are Porte d’Ivry or Porte de Choisy and the adress is 44 Avenue d’Ivry, then take the stairs to the first floor. TAI YOU and Musica are both shops with a surprisingly wide range of CDs, posters, stickers and other important things for a Kpop fan. Both me and my friend bought at cushion with f(x) Amber as the print! I also bought a SNSD poster from the repackage version of The Boys and a pin that says I ♥ Key.
Would have bought more if I had room in my luggage, Guess it gives me reason to go back to Paris soon. If you want more pictures from the Super Sow 4 weekend in Paris, go to our Facebook page and have a look at the album Kpop in Europe.

My Funny Hunny

Yesterday we had an editorial meeting, eating lunch and discussing the future for our blog with it’s upcoming one year celebration and with us trying to find focus as being hardworking students and teachers. The result? Well, at this moment nothing special, but we are awesome and happy about our friendship and this song is perhaps the best way to describe us writers and our realtionship of thoughts and ideas… No, but we both really like this song and it is a great theme for us and the holidays. Fighting!

AKB48 i Metro Sweden, but no kpop
December 2, 2011 § Leave a comment
In todays Metro Stockholm weekend edition there was an article about the history of pop music. In a guide presented with ten categories Japanese girl group AKB48 or rather an international edition of the group, was presented within the category of ” Pop Wonders” as the future. Spice Girls being the history, Justin Bieber representing now and AKB48 representing the future. The text translated in short:
” The next pop sensation could be an international edition of the japanese AKB48. An enormously popular pop collective always available close by and for every girl to dream of becoming a member of. Now grown to four teams with 59 members – and additional project groups.”
Not exactly kpop, but close enough. I wonder though if the music editor really thinks that the Japanese girl groups are the future when the korean ones are starting to dominate even in Japan. But perhaps he has a point. Maybe korean girl groups are not kawaii enough to make it big in Europe. Maybe the korean groups are to much serious business to ever be fully accepted in the west.

Fan account: JYJ in Berlin

We kinda overslept the morning of the concert since we intended to start queing at 4 AM. But we didn’t get to the que until 6 AM. Queing was a bit boring and at times it was hard to communicate with other fans since all the people that surrounded us were Germans that spoke a limited amount of English. But the ones in front of us were nice and explained to us how everything worked. We got our tickets and left Tempodrom around 11:30 to go get lunch. We came back after that and qued again to get some merchendise. Sadly, I didn’t buy a t-shirt, since I didn’t have enough money on me. But anyway. I bought pins and the posters were for free.
Naturally there was A LOT of Cassiopedias and I really didn’t fit in much since I’ve never really been and probably never will be a Cassi. But I managed. We met some nice Swedish fans. I was surprised to see that there where at least 6-7 people from Sweden that went. It was nice.
There was a huge amount of Korean and Japanese fans, which was nice as well. The Korean and especially the Japanese fans were very friendly and shared their love for JYJ with handing out free merchendise such as banners and stickers. I was totally ecstatic when I got hold of a Junsu fan (not a person fan… but a fan you use when it’s hot outside XD). There were fans from all over Europe, so it was really cool.
This was the first K-pop concert I’ve ever been too and it’s totally different from the concerts I’ve been to with Japanese rockbands. First thing first… the artists are SO FREAKKIN FAR AWAY.
But it was still amazing. They were all flawless and really gorgeous and beautiful and omg JUNSU.
They opened the concert with their song Empty, a song that I really enjoy. And they continued with… I think it was AYYY GIRL… I never really approved of that song much, but it was SO MUCH BETTER when they sang it live than on the CD-recording. They wore white suits for the first part of the concert… but the real gorgeous clothes were put in when they preformed Mission, which me and my Maknae agreed was the best song that they preformed that night. The three of them all preformed one solo-song each, but because I’m biased I really only remember Junsu’s (You are so Beautiful).
Overall, the concert was great. It was really great, except for some minor stuff. Like the sound was really off on a few of the songs that you could barely hear them sing (the background music was too loud). And there was absolutely NO USE looking at the big TV-screens that they had, because they only filmed their dancers. And well.. the dancers was great. But we didn’t pay 60 euro to come see the back-up dancers. Like really. But during the ballads, the screens were very convenient indeed. But other then that, they only made one annoyed.
AND THE CONCERT WAS SO SHORT.
Like really. We got in at, what was is, 6PM? The concert started a while after 7PM and then ended around 9PM. That’s what, less than 2 hours? And well… they did say that they hadn’t had any time to prepare that many songs for the concert, but it was such a pity.
They snuck in smaller interview-sessions between the songs just to fill it up a bit, and I think those were the highlights of the concert! It was really fun to see them joking with each other and answer questions. There was a whole lot of Yoochun and Jaejoong teasing Junsu. It was adorable.
And when they got the question of what they wanted the audience to bring back home from the concert, all three of them answered “Junsu’s behind.”
I was happy to hear that they had actually got some time to be tourists and see Berlin. It’s very common that artists are too busy to even see the city they’re preforming in properly. So I was very glad to hear that. They had even tried some German food. A lot of sausages apparently.
So to sum things up… the sound could’ve been better, and the cameramen could’ve been more concentrated on filming JYJ instead of the dancers. But the energy from the fans and from JYJ was an amazing experience.
